Rona grew up in Southern Oregon with a deep respect for the value of nature. Despite turning her focus to literature in college, learning more about the environment always stayed in her heart. The concept of Look Beyond Looks traces back to her first year in college when, in an Environmental Writing class, she learned about the gap in how endangered species are publicized based on the marketability of their appearances. As a self-proclaimed promoter of underdogs, she strives to promote lesser-known species through extensive research.

Even if her message only reaches a small group of people, she continues to give a voice to underrepresented animals.
